The Challenge
Our client had a steep, sloped backyard in Palisades overrun with weeds and some bamboo, making it unusable for their young boys. They wanted a safe, fun, low-maintenance space where their kids could play soccer, climb, and enjoy the outdoors, built to suit their needs.
Our Solution
We transformed the slope into a family-friendly backyard with these key upgrades:
- Retaining Wall: Built a sturdy retaining wall to level out a flat area, setting the foundation for a usable play space.
- Artificial Turf: Installed premium artificial turf across the leveled area, creating a soft, durable surface perfect for soccer and year-round fun.
- Pea-Gravel Patio: Added a pea-gravel patio to the right of the leveled space, giving the family a comfortable spot to watch their boys kick a soccer ball across the yard.
- River Rock Scape: Replaced weeds and bamboo with decorative river rock over weed-blocking fabric for a tidy, low-maintenance look around the play area.
- Planting of Arborvitaes and Liriope: Planted Arborvitaes for privacy and liriope as ground cover, with rich soil and mulch, to add greenery and soften the space.
The Results
The backyard is now a safe, inviting haven for the family’s young boys. The retaining wall and turf create a flat, reliable play area for soccer and activities. The river rock keeps maintenance low by eliminating weeds and bamboo, and the plantings add natural beauty.
