The Homeowner’s Vision
Our client contacted us to create a low-maintenance, lasting upgrade for their outdoor space. They aimed to:
- Transform an unfinished backyard into a functional patio area
- Install a stone path along the side yard
- Enhance the front walkway to boost curb appeal
Though they considered replacing an exterior spiral staircase, they prioritized a sophisticated hardscape solution to elevate both the property’s beauty and functionality.
Our Solution
We designed and executed a custom stonework transformation, delivering three key enhancements:
- Backyard Flagstone Patios – We transformed the unfinished backyard by crafting two distinct patios. Nearest the glass doors, we installed irregular flagstone set in pea gravel, seamlessly connecting to the Carderock stepping stone path. Further back, we built a striking patio with a full-color palette of flagstone set in stone-dust, ensuring durability and a cohesive look.
- Carderock Stepping Stone Path – We laid a refined Carderock stepping stone path in a bed of pea gravel along the side yard, creating a clean, low-maintenance feature that ties into the backyard patio.
- Front Yard Flagstone Walkway & Stoop Facing – We upgraded the existing front walkway by installing a full-color palette of locally quarried flagstone, set with crushed bluestone joints. This bold, natural pathway leads to the entrance. We faced the front stoop with matching stone, achieving a seamless and elegant entryway.
The Results
Our work turned an unfinished backyard into a stunning, functional outdoor retreat with two unique flagstone patios. The Carderock stone path and enhanced front walkway deliver polished, low-maintenance charm. Fresh sod and well-groomed boxwoods in the front yard complement the stonework, amplifying the home’s curb appeal and usability.
